Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at which he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his appearance in the drama series The Killing as well as his appearance in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He also had a leading part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American TV show. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 to honor his role in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. This series was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. According to Mikkelsen's story that he was taught English from his brother by listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
